“So … if Lucifer is your Human Resources Manager, are the rest of the Managers accountable to him?”

“Here’s where the whole system becomes quite genius”, the Creator beamed. “The Managers have daily ‘management committee meetings’ amongst themselves where they police each other. That’s the kind of communication that keeps, for example, the Manager of Smiting and Salvation from blowing a volcano that the Manager of Long-term Planned Destruction had a use for in the future, or that the Manager of Natural Disasters was saving for a special day. You can imagine the cross-purposes these different Managers have to hammer out sometimes. No action is taken until forms have been filled out and signed by ALL Managers.”

“No action. Until everyone agrees.”

HaShem puffed out his chest with pride. “That’s right”

“And the forms are handed in to…”

“Human Resources, in triplicate. It’s a fool-proof system. What could possibly go wrong with management by consensus?”

“I think I’m going to be sick.”

“Oh. Should we quit for the day?”
